TV News is an Oxymoron!

I've been following the debate about a report from Gaza that was reported from the Israeli town of Sderot - the reporter insinuated that he was behind lines (see commentary challenging TVNZ's integrity in reporting) a clear case study of the way media collects and packages information (have a look at the debate).

And one of the many posts said simply: "TV news is an Oxymoron!"

We have to remember that TV's main purpose is to sell advertising and that everything we see on it aligns with that.

Certainly this explains the way we are being bombarded with negative financial news if you choose to tune into the network or print news.

Simply put, the information you are getting from this source has a pitch and an unstated agenda.
I suggest that you don't rely on these sources for your information - the Manstream media.

What are the alternatives?

Firstly, you could cultivate an attitude of healthy scepticism. "Yeah right - show me the proof!"

Secondly, if you have the time, you could research a number of points of view on the internet.

And thirdly, you could tune into commentators that you trust.

You might say that this takes more time than simply digesting what is being fed freely in the mainstream media.

But most times in life, it's better to be not doing what the majority are.
