How incredible has it been for us to have seen people for whom competition for the biggest car, the biggest house, the best schools is a really serious game to play with high stakes for winning and losing. I have sat through many meetings and parties where people I respect and value get caught up in this silly game.

And how a good thing about uncertain times is that it can bring us all back to the basics - and isn't that what's really important in the end? And isn't cooperating for the common good a worthy and admirable endeavor?
