Pushing Your Focus Button!

What's the difference between when you approach a task with a clear focus on your outcome and when you approach the same task thinking about a number of other things?

...the difference is astounding!

And yet, most of our day, we operate on the "Multi-tasking" frequency. Doing several tasks at once and thinking about many things at once.

So what is the focus button and how can I use it?

You could try clearing the space:

You could use a three step process that goes like this:

  1. You acknowledge the thought that's running around in the back of your head
  2. You acknowledge how you feel about that thought
  3. Then you say "I'm going to put that aside so I can focus!"
  4. Then you repeat the process until you have cleared your head sufficiently to focus.

Or you could just write down your objective before you do something and declare to yourself "I'm going to do this task with my full focus on it!"

Or, if you meditate and go into very focused mental states, you could create an anchor like the Buddhists do with your fingers during your meditations. Placing your fingers during your day will bring this state back to you.

Whatever you do, you will do a better job of it with depth, insight and clarity if you press the focus button before you start.

So what are you going to do today to push your "Focus Button"?
