Another old Chestnut:

"You can take a horse to water, but you can't make them drink."

Your client's goals aren't your goals.

You can only work with their commitment.

If it's there, you've got some work to do.

If it ain't, then you either walk away or you work with what you can.

If there's enough committment in perhaps another goal, work on that.

They will learn and understand the process, and maybe, when they are ready,

When the time is right........(no promises, remember! - the ball is in their court)

They might just discover their commitment to the goals where they previously never had any.
