Luke Skywalker and Yoda - Two distinctions of Leadership!

Kuz told me this one.....thanks mate - you are brilliant!

There are Two Distinctions of Leadership.

When you take on a goal or a calling, when you go out into the world and start making things happen, meet challenges and overcome obstacles - you are being "Luke Skywalker"!

Luke joins the Rebel Alliance, organises his army, leads & inspires from the front, confronts Darth Vader and the notorious Imperial Stormtroopers and eventually destroys the Death Star.

He is a man of action, who earns his leadership from his values and his access to "The Force".

He is the archetypal Hero who goes through trials and tribulations and emerges stronger and wiser and a gift to his community.

When you are Mentoring, Guiding, Advising, Coaching or Listening and you are not actually in the field, not actually brandishing a light sabre or confronting anything head on, then you are being Yoda.

Yoda does not get involved in the battle, he stands separate from the fray, detached from the action. From this position he has the advantage of a cool head, clear vision and the ability to strategies and reflect.

Yoda does not hold a light sabre or any weapon besides his clarity of thinking, his insights and his ability to reveal to Luke his hidden strengths, wisdom, creativity and talent.

He is the Hero's guide to self realisation and higher awareness.

Yoda believes in Luke much longer than Luke can. Yoda believes in Luke when Luke has long stopped believing.

Yoda sees things that Luke is unable to. Yoda spends time reflecting on the situation and sets up situations that enable Luke to win.

Yoda reveals Luke to himself, bit by bit, when the time is right. Luke is always learning about who he really is. Luke is also learning about the world and what works and what doesn't. Luke is learning to think, learning to learn.

Yoda makes sure Luke is always moving forward, even when Luke thinks he is standing still, going nowhere.

Both are leaders. Both are committed. Both have boundaries and responsibilities in their relationship with each other. Both are looking in the same direction at the same goal. Both are strong. Both believe and trust each other.

.....but together, their strength multiplies!
