About Denial - what does it do to us?

Denial places her hand over our eyes,

Fills our ear with white noise,

Directs our attention anywhere but where it's needed,

Protects us like only a mother could.

Denial protects us from overwhelm and danger,

But is indiscriminate about our capacity to respond.

If you want to free yourself from this protection:

Simply Say: "I'm in Denial"

Your bondage will fall away, your situation will be able to be seen.

You will be able to respond.
